H-U-D S-O-N

Standard

over the last couple weeks hudson learned to recite the alphabet, sing several new songs, count to 14, and spell his name. it’s so amazing how much a two year old can absorb. michelle (aka kiki) taught him to spell his name. it sounds more like a cheer than a spelling b. whatever works. he has improved since this video, but i couldn’t resist sharing.

i use to be a huge skeptic of any kind of burger that was not made out of beef. i’ve tried veggie burgers, black bean burgers, turkey burger, bison burgers, venison burger, you name it. besides the bison burger i have never been impressed. until now! i made the most amazing black bean quinoa burger last night. i can honestly say that i like a non-beef burger now. it was so good! i can’t take any credit besides finding the recipe on pinterest. i will say that you should check it out and try it for yourself.

potty training

Standard

i’m a little timid when writing this next sentence, lets just say there is still a road ahead of us not sure how long. either way i will say it. hudson is potty trained! we gave all his cloth diapers to brekken. put on brand new thomas the train underwear and haven’t looked back. he hasn’t worn a diaper in 5 days now. i can’t even tell you how many accidents he has had, i stopped counting after day one, but he has made significant progress. i believe i can see the light when accidents are few and far between. i’m so proud of my little boy. i could tell this was a stressful transition for him. yet, he persevered.

i’m also so proud and thankful for my amazing husband. my co-trainer in this endeavor. he was so patient and encouraging to hudson motivating me to do the same. he took a day off of work to help me complete the 3 day training and didn’t complain once that this day he took off was his birthday. he is the best father and husband we could ask for. love you babe. happy birthday!

IMG_0291 IMG_0285 IMG_0309 IMG_0287  * we used 3 day potty training by Lora Jensen. it is VERY intense and requires a lot of focus and time at home. it worked great for brad and i since we are all or nothing kind of people. i believe it works and would recommend it if you are ready for the commitment!

sitting up. big boy bed.

Standard

both my boys reached a special milestone this week. hudson started sleeping in a toddler bed and brekken can sit up! such simple changes, but so exciting in our home. brekken surprised us all by deciding to sit on his own last weekend. i hadn’t been practicing with him at all. thought of it randomly and decided to see what he would do if i sat him up. well he did just that. sat right up. he is getting so big.

hudson is on night number two in his bed and is loving it. he wanted to play in it all morning reading books and telling stories. thankfully i can squeeze myself in next to him to join in on the fun. we made the change this week in preparation for this weekend. it’s potty training time! brad and i have been reading our training guide, getting all the necessary supplies ready, and clearing our schedule to ensure we can be home for 3 straight days. i sent brad this hilarious article on a dad’s experience with potty training. we are pumped. i will hopefully have a positive post on this next week. pray for us!
